The group is made up of professionals and researchers dedicated to the study of diabetes-related topics. The line of diabetes research of Reus-Tarragona was originated by the primary health care services of Reus-Altebrat and later supported and promoted by the primary health care services of the larger Tarragona-Reus area. It collaborates with European diabetes study networks. The group forms part of the ISCIII-accredited redIAPP network.
The group’s objective is to promote research into the prevention, diagnosis, treatment, identification, therapeutic intervention and prognosis of diabetes in primary health care. As primary health care is the entrance to the health system, it must be the basis of diagnosis and care of the diabetic patient, and by extension, of the pre-diabetic, fiben its prevalence among the population.
